The University of Lethbridge Rotaract Club's 12th Annual Dinner & Silent Auction:
"Colourful Connections: From Graffiti to Greatness": a fundraiser to support the youth safe graffiti program at the Lethbridge District Boys & Girls Club
On behalf of the University of Lethbridge Rotaract Club, I would like to invite you to participate in our 12th Annual Dinner & Silent Auction fundraiser taking place on January 21th, 2017. Our previous fundraisers have raised over $245,000 for various humanitarian projects around the world, many with a focus on education and youth. This year our club will be partnering with the Boys & Girls Club, a Lethbridge organization which aims to provide a safe, supportive place where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life. Through their MAT Youth Centre, they provide free drop-in programming and resources to youth ages 11-18. Funds raised will be used to support their safe graffiti program located inside the Boys & Girls Club facility. This program serves as a creative outlet and social activity for the youth, and also promotes graffiti in a safe, controlled environment without vandalizing the city.
The Boys & Girls Club addresses a need in Lethbridge for a free, inclusive, and safe environment during after-school and unsupervised hours for youth, many of whom are at-risk. This graffiti program increases the opportunity for youth to participate in a creative and interactive activity, something that may not normally be possible due to the associated costs and negative stigma. The University of Lethbridge Rotaract Club recognizes the importance of offering youth a safe and supportive environment in our community where they have access to a variety of free activities and resources.
Critical to the success of this mission is the support of community leaders like you. By attending or sponsoring the dinner, or donating silent auction items, you are providing opportunities for the youth of Lethbridge. The University of Lethbridge Rotaract Club and the Boys & Girls Club strive to empower the youth of Lethbridge and we invite you to help us in giving back to our local community.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
President, University of Lethbridge Rotaract Club
