Conversation with Peter Moskowitz: How to Kill a City
Event Information
Description
"Gentrification is [...] the inevitable result of a political system focused more on the creation and expansion of business opportunity than on the well-being of its citizens." - Peter Moskowitz, How to Kill a City
We will be joined via Skype by Peter Moskowitz to discuss his latest book How to Kill a City: Gentrification, Inequality, and the Fight for the Neighborhood. Moskowitz looks at four cities - New Orleans, Detroit, New York City and San Fransisco - in an attempt to unravel the complicated systems that allow gentrification to take place, and the policies that set it all in motion.
Gentrification has been an ongoing topic of conversation. KI held a monthly discussion series throughout 2016. For more information regarding that series, notes can be found online HERE. Also, Moskowitz's book was the May selection for KI's monthly book discussion. Please join us to add your voice to the conversation.
