Costume Breakdown Workshop

This 2-day intensive workshop on Costume Breakdown will cover basic breakdown techniques and natural aging, as well as more extreme effects such as painting, blood work, and special effects. The workshop combines lecture, demonstration, and hands-on learning to teach participants the most effective approaches for film and television work.

Topics include:

• Defining Costume Breakdown
• Health & Safety
• On-Set vs. In-Shop Techniques
• Natural aging
• Sanding, extreme wear
• Dirt, blood, burns
• Teching, Tea Dyeing

Workshop Features:

• Full binder for each student including outline, instructor bios, and handouts (the handout alone is worth attending!).
• Each participant receives a sample breakdown kit to use during the workshop and take home afterwards (estimated value up to $200 with supplies and labour).
• Everyone works with the same supplies so participants can follow along in real time.
• Mix of introduction, lecture, demonstrations, and extensive hands-on practice.
