About this Event

Meet Heather

Heather Fenyes is a community leader and volunteer. She takes a leading role in the management of family businesses.

Heather has taught and led Holocaust education initiatives in Saskatoon to tens of thousands of students over the years in partnership with Saskatoon's two school divisions, in collaboration with the Directors of Education and all levels of government.

Heather worked in partnership with the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) to create economic opportunities between Israel and Saskatchewan. This culminated in a trip to Israel in September of 2018 with the Deputy Premier and Minister of Trade and Export.

Heather works in partnership with the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission on a project, Concentus Education Foundation; an inquiry based classroom resource designed to engage all students in becoming responsible Canadian citizens. This resource has received international interest, and is now in the majority of Saskatchewan classrooms with expansion plans underway.

Heather sits on the boards of the CIJA, the Canadian Jewish Political Affairs Committee (CJPAC), the Jerusalem Foundation, Concentus Citizenship Education Foundation and the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights and is the Canadian President of the Commonwealth Jewish Council.

Heather was recognized with a Senate of Canada 150 medal in 2017, honoured by Soroptimist International Saskatoon as a Hometown Hero in 2019, and in 2020, was featured on the Wall of Honour at the College of Education at the University of Saskatchewan.

Heather and her husband Leslie live in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and are the proud parents of three grown children.
