SFU Continuing Studies invites you to the Creative Writing Open House, a free evening of mini workshops based on our course offerings. Join us to pick up some tips and techniques, try your hand at new approaches to writing, and get your writing-related questions answered. If you're thinking of taking a writing course to jump-start your practice, you won't want to miss this opportunity to sample what SFU is offering this year.

Creative Non-Fiction with Christina Myers

How do you go from this thing that happened to a compelling piece of creative non-fiction? Learn how to use research, interviews and your own memories to generate material, and then shape that material into a compelling piece of prose.

Fiction with Carleigh Baker

Push your fiction writing further! We’ll look at a variety of fiction writing techniques including: working with characters; crafting scenes; and creating, sustaining and releasing tension.

Writing with Confidence with Loghan Paylor

New to creative writing or returning after a long absence? Join us to demystify the writing process and be introduced to a variety of tools you can use to get words on the page.

Poetry with Raoul C Fernandes

Explore how poetic language emerges between what you personally bring to your poetry and the traditional and radical histories of poetry as an art form. You’ll leave with multiple ways to create and edit your work.
