Who can take this course?

Any health professional in which triage is a part of their interest or practice may take this course.  It is an education, NOT a certification.

Question 2

If I live outside  or practice outside of Canada, can I take this course?

Accepted Answer

No, this course is limited to Canadian health professionals currently working in the Canadian healthcare system.

Question 3

Can I immediately start to triage patients if I complete this course?

Accepted Answer

This course alone does not "qualify" one to do triage.  Triage practitioners are guided by scope of practice, should have a recommended minimum of 2 years emergency experience, and ideally a period of mentorship (in addition to this course) in order to be considered adequately prepared to triage.

Why is there variation in the cost of CTAS courses?

Each instructor can set their own course fees.  They may consider many factors including cost of internet, classroom rentals (if in person), their level of expertise and experience, and other such things.

Question 5

What does the "ticket" cost of this course include?

Accepted Answer

The base cost of the course ($200), and all other ticket fees and taxes as charged by Eventbrite.

Question 6

Is there an exam?

Not at this time, as it is currently an "educational" course, not a certification.  However, triage is very complex and it is certainly encouraged that students read the participant manual thoroughly as there are parts included that will not be discussed in class due to time constraints.

Do I have to take the whole course again if I have taken it before to update?

Currently there is no "re-cert" course, although it is being considered by the National Emergency Nurses Association (NENA) CTAS committee.  Thus, at this time, all previously trained triage nurses need to take the full update course and bring their stories and wealth of knowledge to class!

What do I need to do to prepare for and take this course?

An email will be sent to you following registration with course materials and instructions/options for printing and tech requirements.  You will absolutely REQUIRE a working speaker and microphone, and it is highly recommended to do the course on a laptop or desktop computer.
