The World Gets Closer: Families Across International Borders

Service in a Time of Global Mobility

In a world shaped by migration, mobility, and international ties, families increasingly live, work, and connect across borders. This session explores the growing presence of internationally connected families in the child welfare and social services landscape. Using compelling stories, presenters highlight legal, cultural, and systemic complexities. Drawing on rich practice experience, we will delve into local impact of global events, emerging trends across North America, explore child rights and connections, and tips to strengthen cross-border collaboration. As the world gets closer, our systems must grow more responsive to the realities of families living transnational lives.
