Dance Days Kick Off

Join us in celebrating the start of Dance Days, Dance Victoria’s annual 10-day festival of free dance classes, workshops, and performances taking place across the Capital Region.

This year’s Dance Days Kick-off Event is hosted by Victoria Harbour by Chartwell, just steps from the Inner Harbour. As the festival’s presenting sponsor, Chartwell is proud to support Dance Days and its mission to foster dance appreciation, joyful movement, and connection across our community.

The afternoon begins with a Contemporary Movement Class led by Belle Spirale Dance Projects artist Brenna Metzmeier. This gentle, accessible session is open to all levels and physical abilities. Drawing inspiration from Brenna’s role in UNIVERSUS, the class explores spinal sequencing and guided creative movement, with a focus on using dance as a way to connect more deeply with yourself and with others. The session includes a guided warm-up, contemporary movement exploration that blends demonstration with participant-led movement, a group improvisation guided by imagery, a cool-down, and time for questions with Brenna and Belle Spirale’s Co-Artistic Director, Alexis Fletcher.

Immediately following the class, all guests are invited to join the Catered Reception in Chartwell’s elegant main floor lobby lounge. Enjoy light refreshments, connect with fellow dance lovers, and take in the warm, welcoming atmosphere of this unique community space as we officially launch Dance Days together.

Regististration is required. Space is limited, and only guests who have registered in advance will be admitted.

*Note: Dance Days events focus on movement classes for adults only and must occur between January 16–25, 2026, inclusive.
