Description
Celebrate International Bat Week with Meewasin at Beaver Creek Conservation Area on Saturday, October 27, 2018. Visit the centre during either our day or evening events to learn about our night sky, nocturnal wildlife, and how light pollution affects the natural world around us!
Stay tuned to Meewasin social media for any changes to the schedule closer to the event. This event is sponsored by the Saskatoon Nature Society and the Saskatoon Centre of the Royal Astronomical Society.
To arrive onsite, take highway #219 13km south of Saskatoon and turn right at the Beaver Creek Conservation Area sign.
Tickets are for the evening event only. Due to a site capacity, please arrive onsite by 7:00 pm in order to guarentee your spot for the event.
Event Schedule:
12:00 pm - 5:00 pm - Family Day Event
1:00 pm – Join Kenton Lysak to meet some live nocturnal animals, including brown bats!
2:30 pm – Learn how to build your own bat box to help local bats in your community.

3:30 pm – Nocturnal Storytime in the theater.
6:30 pm – 11:00 pm – Evening Event
7:00 pm – Learn how light pollution affects nocturnal animals with science educator Kenton Lysak.
8:00 pm – Hear local astronomer Rick Huziak talk about our night sky and why it’s worth protecting.
9:00 pm – Join members of the Royal Astronomical Society to use telescopes to view the night sky.
