Deimplementation for Literacy Growth: Aligning Research with Classroom Practice

Are you feeling overwhelmed with too many new literacy initiatives? During this 1-hour presentation, participants will explore the concept of de- implementation, a term that can be described as “finding the right things to remove, reduce, re-engineer or replace so that higher impact on student achievement can be made within the confines of the school schedule.” (Burns, R., 2025), and identify common practices that should be removed to make room for more effective, evidence-based practices to meet the needs of more learners. By deimplementing practices with limited impact, educators can reclaim time and focus for literacy approaches grounded in evidence and aligned with student needs.
