Description

Myths about Success - and Other Things I’ve Learned with Lynn Sumida, MSW, RSW, CTRT, Senior Faculty William Glasser Institute of Canada.

An evening designed for entrepreneurs, leaders and professionals.

What to expect:

Being successful at whatever we are committed to doing is something most people want. We we hear about, talk about it, and read about success, pretty much on a constant basis. And yet, there are many things about success that are both elusive and deceptive.

I’ve discovered, from over 40 years as an entrepreneur, some myths and fallacies which like many things contain a grain of truth but overall are misleading or downright wrong.

For example many people believe if you visualize your goals fully, and step into the future you want, it will happen. Visualizing is a powerful strategy but what if deep in your nervous system, is buried a fear of achieving what you want. I’ve discovered people are often are cross-wired on very important things they want – like health, weight loss, relationships and yes, success.

This evening will explore the following ideas:

  1. Confidence and Competence Aren’t Siamese twins

  2. Why we can be our own worst enemy – Discovering your own cross-wiring

  3. Striving isn’t thriving – the myth of no pain no gain

  4. Surrender isn’t a white flag – the paradigm of war is not the best one for true success
