DFO engagement sessions: Amending the Authorizations Regulations and Approaches to Early Engagement

Please join us for a virtual roundtable discussion to gather your feedback on the proposed improvements on January 15, 2026 from 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm EST. To support the Government’s agenda, and as outlined in the Red Tape Review Progress Report, DFO is taking steps to improve regulatory efficiency by proposing amendments to the Authorizations Concerning Fish and Fish Habitat Protection Regulations (Authorizations Regulations) to right-size its regulatory program.

All other questions relating to the proposed changes should be directed to the FFHPP inbox. Written comments and feedback on the proposals can be sent to the FFHPP inbox and will be accepted until January 30, 2026.

* Please note that these proposed changes only concern DFO’s approach to the authorization of projects according to the Fisheries Act or Species at Risk Act. These changes are not related to the definition and listing of, or consultation on, national interest projects.
