Learn how to capture portraits, action shots, and landscapes in just 4 hours.

This workshop is ideal for anyone just getting started with photography.

This workshop is perfect for beginners starting their photography journey who haven’t yet explored advanced camera modes.

In four hours I will show the key settings of your camera and its more advanced modes. Learn how to shoot beautiful portraits, freeze action and capture beautiful landscapes.

We start by going over the basic functions of your camera and the main controls that create good exposures. After a lunch break we’ll wrap things up with some final tips and tricks, and a short photo walk to practice the concepts you learned in the class.

Some of the topics covered include:

  • How to capture kids and pets in action by controlling the shutter speed.
  • Take better portraits and landscapes by controlling areas of focus
  • Take better photos in low-light situations
  • Tips on camera and lens upgrades, printing your photos and sharing them online
  • The basics of good composition to create more engaging images

There's a maximum of 10 participants per workshop, offering plenty of personal attention.

FAQ's

Is this workshop for me?

This is a beginner workshop. If you are just getting started in photography and have been using the most basic settings on your camera this workshop is for you. This workshop will show you the key features of your camera so you can take better portraits, action shots, landscape images and more.

The workshop is in-person and takes place at the Central Park Business Centre.

Included are:

  • A 4-hour workshop. We’ll go on a 30 minute lunch break at noon (lunch not included).
  • Handouts of the key topics covered in the workshop.

What do I need

• You’ll need a digital camera. It can be a DSLR or a mirrorless model. Your camera must have the shutter and aperture priority modes. These controls usually appear on a dial or can sometimes be accessed through the LCD screen. See image below.

Click here for more information. If you’re not sure if you have these controls, send me an email with your camera model.

"Point and shoot" cameras are not recommended since they lack most of the features covered.

• A charged battery and a memory card with empty space.

• Your camera manual will come in handy. Digital PDF versions are easily found online and you can store them on your phone for easy access.

Please be on time (early is better). I’m unable to restart the class once we begin.
