End of Season Tips to Be Grant-Ready
Overview
Fianna Dirks has been working as a farmer for the last 15 years focusing on organic growing, on-farm compost production, beneficial insect habitat creation, and is the Co-Owner of It's Giving Farm.
Fresh off the first two years of coordinating start up finances for a new farm, Fianna will share the opportunities that supported the farm’s early development, along with an honest look at the hard lessons learned, unexpected hiccups, and key successes. This gathering will offer an open and supportive space to talk through the realities of getting started with farm finances.
Fianna will also introduce the NFU-O mentorship program and host a discussion about end-of-season checklists and tasks that can help ensure your farm is prepared for upcoming grants, loans, and other funding opportunities available this winter and spring.
This project is funded in part by the Governments of Canada and Ontario under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership, a federal-provincial-territorial initiative.
Pollinating Diversity: Overcoming Financial Barriers for Underrepresented Farmers is a new NFU-O project aimed at supporting equity-deserving and underrepresented farmers to navigate applications for grants, loans, insurance programs, and public land rentals.
