The session focuses on how to effectively evaluate energy models and assess final results for validity. This training will provide a deeper knowledge of the NECB 2020 modeling rules, identifying critical areas to monitor for compliance.
This training will provide and cover a practical, ready-to-use checklist highlighting essential model review verification checkpoints, which can serve as a handy reference during reviews. By developing a more intuitive understanding of energy modeling best practices, you can help your team mitigate the risk of costly errors and rework. Objectives:
By the end of this course, trainees will be able to:
1. Describe what information in an energy model needs to be evaluated and how to perform the
evaluation.
2. List NECB 2020 requirements that need to be confirmed for each energy model.
3. Define how the results of an energy model can be confirmed as valid.
4. Identify best-fit intermediate milestone review opportunities to confirm the appropriate
development of an energy model.
5. Describe the importance and relevance of an energy modelling report that describes inputs.

Architectural, Engineering, and Building Science Consulting Firms, and Building Departments and Code Officials
Prerequisites:
Trainees need to have the skills and abilities to perform energy modeling for building-specific performance using hourly energy modeling software. Trainees with a basic familiarity with NECB Chapter 8 will benefit most from this course.
