Environment Cafe -State of the Climate, COP 30, & Canada's Climate Policy
Overview
Would you like to know more about the current state of the planet and the climate crisis,
the recent Conference of the Parties (COP30) addressing climate change, and Canada's
climate policy?
Please join us for our upcoming Environment Café 613 program on January 13th with
Professor and Climate Scientist Simon Donner with the University of British Columbia, who
will share the latest scientific updates, his experience as a delegate at the recent COP, and
will talk about his advisory work for the Canadian government and his perspective as a
climate scientist.
As a climate scientist, Dr. Donner is focused on helping the world prevent and prepare for
climate change. He was a lead author on the most recent Intergovernmental Panel on
Climate Change assessment and until recently served as co-chair of Canada’s Net-Zero Advisory Body,
which advises the federal government on achieving net-zero carbon emissions.
We welcome you to take advantage of this unique opportunity for learning and
conversation on January 13th at 7:30 pm Eastern as we seek to actively engage in and contribute to the social, material, and spiritual advancement of society.
Our program will also feature a debut performance of the environmental musical piece
titled "Humans on Earth”, A Ballad of our Time, which will be introduced by composer
Christine Mueller.
