Get ready to roll up your sleeves and dive into a cozy gathering of the AEHS to make Estonian Christmas treats with Martha and Thea, and sing Carols with Kylli, guiding you every step of the way. In this fun, interactive online event, you'll learn traditional pirukad baking, recipes, share laughs, and create delicious memories—all from the comfort of your own kitchen, or in person if you are in the Edmonton area. Perfect for anyone who loves festive baking or wants to try something new this Holiday season. Don't miss out on the yuletide joy and tasty Estonian traditions!

AEHS Christmas Baking Continues on Tuesday, December 23, 2025!

AEHS Members are invited to join us on-line. If you are in the Edmonton area, you are welcome to join us in Urban Green Cohousing’s community kitchen and dining room.

In the conversations that wove through the recent kringel-baking demonstration, several members mentioned having enjoyed meat pockets 'liha pirukad' with broth on Christmas Day.

Thea Williams heard that conversation and shared with us her grandmother's recipe. She will demonstrate the making of meat pockets: ‘liha pirukad’. In-person guests can participate in the process and enjoy dining together.

Another participant, Kylli Kell, who is a choir leader in Estonia, tuned in to the kringel demo from Estonia, and offered to lead AEHS members in Christmas Carols for this exciting event. We have combined both offers for a pop-up Christmas treat to help you celebrate Christmas and your Estonian heritage!

Meat pockets were a feature of many of the pioneer Estonian homes in Alberta.
