This session is an educational talk led by Dr. Aubrey-Bassler titled, "BETTER chronic disease prevention: A new role for kinesiologists in healthcare?".
Speaker Bio
Dr. Aubrey-Bassler completed his medical education at the University of Ottawa in 2001 and family medicine residency training with Family Medicine North, based in Thunder Bay and affiliated with McMaster University. After that, he completed additional residency training in rural advanced skills. He holds a Master's degree in Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario and the CCFP(EM) certificate.
About this event
Dr. Aubrey-Bassler will discuss his recently CIHR funded project BETTER. BETTER is led by a non-physician healthcare provider who has special training in helping people change their health behaviours, such as improving their diet, increasing their physical activity and limiting alcohol use.
Dr. Aubrey-Bassler will give an approximately 30-minute formal presentation, followed by a Q&A session on the role of other healthcare professionals in primary healthcare. Dr. Amanda Hancock from the Faculty of Business will moderate this event.
