Fanshawe Frolic Presents: The Confederation Ball
Sat, 5 Aug 2017, 11:00 AM – Sun, 6 Aug 2017, 4:30 PM EDT
Come to the popular annual Fanshawe Frolic Dance Weekend August 5 and 6, 2017 featuring...
The Confederation Ball
The whole Village will be celebrating Confederation!
Join the Villagers at our signature Canada 150 event as we celebrate Confederation with a Grand Ball. This will be a unique opportunity to step back to the 1860s and learn the dances that the Fathers of Confederation would have done.
You don’t need to have any previous dance experience. At the Saturday workshops, Dance Mistress and Historian, Mme. Cathy Stephens, will teach you the basic and simple steps you need to know so you can do all the dances at the ball. In the evening, join us for a country supper and an authentic 19th century ball program complete with ball cards and dance music of the era played by The Cottonwood Brass. (Period costumes are encouraged but not required.)
There’s more on Sunday at the Family Frolic featuring period music and simple dances that are fun for the whole family. Then join us at the Tavern for an afternoon tea.
And, while you’re in the Village, watch for special appearances by Sir John A. Mcdonald and Lady Agnes Mcdonald.
Tickets for the whole weekend are $50. plus HST per person and that includes a 2 day pass to the Village, 2 dance workshops, country supper, the evening ball, souvenir ball cards and the Family Frolic informal dance and tea on Sunday.
Advanced booking is required.
