Fast-Tracking Rental Housing & Small Hotels–Development Community Session
Overview
Hi everyone, join us for a virtual session focused on fast-tracking low-rise rental housing and low-rise hotels in Vancouver, specifically for architects, developers, and other stakeholders working on 6-storey projects.
The City of Vancouver is proposing zoning changes that would make it easier to build rental homes and small hotels along major arterials and in more neighbourhoods across the city. These updates support the Vancouver Plan’s goals for more equitable housing and complete neighbourhoods.
What’s being proposed?
The changes would Simplify and speed up the processes for building 6-storey rental housing and hotels in C-2 (commercial mixed-use) zones and 6-storey rental housing in RR (residential rental) zones.
Input received during this engagement will help shape the final version, which will be presented to City Council for consideration in spring 2026.
The session will highlight details particularly relevant for architects and developers, such as project design considerations, zoning implications, and process updates.
