About this event

  • 2 hours

As part of its 25th season, Maestro Michel Brousseau of the Société philharmonique du Nouveau Monde, its three choirs and its orchestra invite you to an evening dedicated to two great composers of the early 20th century Parisian’s musical scene.

Composers Gabriel Fauré and Théodore Dubois, who followed parallel paths, created masterworks that we offer you for our spring concert. It's also an opportunity to celebrate the 100th anniversary of their deaths in 1924, five months apart.

The program includes Fauré's Requiem, Dubois' Messe Solennelle de St-Rémi as well as a few surprises. While Fauré’s Requiem has been acclaimed by audiences since its creation in 1888, Dubois’ Messe Solennelle was only presented in May 2008 for its North American premiere, after almost a century of silence. Colleagues, Dubois and Fauré rubbed shoulders throughout their respective careers, even succeeding each other as directors of the Conservatoire de musique de Paris.

Join us to discover, rediscover and appreciate these two great men and their masterpieces.
