Finding Your Audience

Located in the Marpole neighbourhood of Vancouver, Historic Joy Kogawa House is a 1912 heritage house owned by the City of Vancouver as a cultural space to honour the life work and writing of author Joy Kogawa. Today, the property is a unique live/work space for writers, a space for public events, and an ongoing symbol of the racial discrimination experienced by Japanese Canadians as a consequence of the Second World War.

Community-Engaged Writing Program

Writing workshops and literary events offer members of the local community an opportunity to interact with visiting writers-in-residence as mentors and inspiration for new writing

Joy Kogawa House and Asian Canadian Writers Workshop present Chris from The Idea Shop, a publicist and marketeer with decades of experience with books and authors in Canada. Moderated by award-winning author Wayne Ng, current writer-in-residence at Joy Kogawa House. Chris will offer -- <ul><li>simple strategies authors can do themselves to promote and market their work </li><li>tips on working with and without a publicist</li></ul>This hour-long masterclass will be presented online.
