First Responders to Sexual Assault -FOR CURRENT BVC STUDENTS & STAFF ONLY
Overview
This two-day training is open only to current BVC students, staff, and faculty.
To receive your certificate, you must attend both full days and miss no more than 15 minutes each day.
A $25 deposit is required to register. Your deposit will be refunded (minus Eventbrite fee) after you complete the full training or if you cancel at least 48 hours before the workshop.

This training is beneficial to both students and employees at Bow Valley College to learn how to identify and respond to people impacted by sexual violence. Bow Valley College community members will increase their skills and confidence to address sexual abuse and sexual assault, both on and off campus.
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
Define sexual violence and describe its various forms
Understand the short and long-term impacts of sexual violence across the lifespan
Articulate why sexual violence is never the fault of the person who has been harmed
Explain the attitudes and beliefs that perpetuate sexual violence and other root causes
Provide a positive and supportive first response to a disclosure of sexual violence
Identify resources and referrals to support those who have experienced sexual violence
