The WESTEM Program has partnered with Ammolite Analytx to offer 30 scholarships for Foundations in Cybersecurity.

About this Event

There is a growing need for female cybersecurity professionals to protect an organization from hackers, malware, and other information risks. You will learn the concepts that frame and define security standards, guidelines, and industry best practices, including risk management and assessment principles relating to cybersecurity threats. You will be able to describe threats and vulnerabilities and be better prepared to ensure business continuity and disaster recovery.

Learners will develop a lifelong passion and appreciation for cybersecurity, which will help in future endeavours. The learning outcomes:

• Basic cybersecurity concepts, principles

• Basic risk management principles relating to cybersecurity threats

• Basic third-party risk management best security practices

• Define the cyber threat landscape and how it has been evolved

• Differentiate between policies, standards, and guidelines

• Describe the threat process and identify common attacks and threat actors

• Describe frameworks that can be utilized by information security professionals

• Basic business continuity/ disaster recovery concepts

• Describe emerging technologies and associated security risks and vulnerabilities

This program will run 8 weeks (Tuesdays & Thursdays - March 9 - April 29, 2021) and is for female entrepreneurs and/or female IT professionals in Southern Alberta looking to start a business. Upon completion of the program certification, a digital badge will be awarded.

This course includes 3 live instructional hours weekly over 8 weeks, plus one-on-one coaching and mentorship throughout.

No prior knowledge or experience is required.

In order to be accepted into the program, participants must pre-register here, including a paragraph on why you are a good candidate for the program.
