Overview

A free introduction to English Country Dancing. Beginners welcome; all dances taught; you don't need to bring a partner.

English Country Dance began as a combination of formal court dance and folk dance in the 1500s. It became wildly popular throughout Europe through the 1700s. It was revived starting in 1899. New dances continue to be devised to this day.

Please be a bit early to be ready for the beginner lesson at 6:30. The regulars will join us for the dance at 7:00 (your first dance is free). Everything is taught, and beginners are welcome even without the beginner lesson. We will partner you with experienced dancers.

Second-floor auditorium, Ralph Thornton Centre, 765 Queen Street East, Toronto.

No lead or follow roles. You don't need to bring a partner. Dress is casual. Wear flat, soft-soled shoes and comfortable clothes. Please avoid perfume and scented grooming products.
