From Near Extinction to Hope: The Trumpeter Swan Journey (In Person)

By Ramara Township Public Library

Overview

Learn about a local volunteer group and the history of trumpeter swans in our area!

Susan Best (Past President - Trumpeter Swan Conservation Ontario) moved to Washago in 2010 from Brampton, where her first Christmas in the area brought an unforgettable sight—“seven swans a-swimming.” Inspired by that moment and her natural curiosity, she began researching Trumpeter Swans and their history in Simcoe County. In her presentation, Susan will share the remarkable story of the Trumpeter Swan: from near extinction in Canada, to decades of restoration work, to the current state of the population today.

We thank the Friends of the Library & Quilting Club for sponsoring this program.
