In this introductory cross-stitch workshop, artist Mallory Donen will demonstrate her step-by-step process of converting glitch images into cross-stitch patterns to make a glitch pin.
You will learn the fundamental skills of cross-stitch and pattern creation using Stitchfiddle.com.
By the end of the workshop, you will go home with your very own cross-stitched glitch pin!
Materials and Techniques Used
Embroidery, cross-stitch & basic hand stitching techniques.
Supplies provided:
• Embroidery Floss & needles
• Embroidery needle
• Aida cloth
• Fusible fleece
• Brooch pin
• Hot glue gun
• Iron/ironing board
Participants should bring:
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Thimble (optional)
Facilitator's Biography
Mallory Donen is a multidisciplinary artist residing in Vancouver on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil Waututh First Nations. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from University of the Fraser Valley, and a Master of Fine Arts from University of Manitoba. Her practice explores the intersection of digital art and embroidery, through processes rooted in traditional craft passed down from generations of women in her family. More recently her work has begun investigating notions of labour, productivity, and the value of art in relation to craft and women’s work.
