Event description

Description

The Anglican Student Ministry invites you to the Annual Chaplaincy Dinner on Friday April 6, 2018. This year's theme is Gracious Speech based upon Colossians 4: 5-6, "Conduct yourselves wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer everyone."

Our guest speakers are Adam Lee and Andrew Murtaugh. Adam Lee is a writer and activist living in New York City. Raised in a non-religious household, he became an atheist in his first year of college after a series of conversations with Christian and Muslim friends convinced him both that religion was less intellectually benign and that his own vague deistic beliefs weren’t as defensible as he had thought. In February 2006, he founded Daylight Atheism to advance the humanist philosophy he had developed (full bio). Andrew Murtagh is an engineer and author with an interest in philosophy, theology, and science. His background is in biomedical engineering and he works in med tech industry. Both Adam and Andrew have written books about the "Big Questions" of life and have recently published Meta: On God, the Big Questions, and the Just City (An Uncommon Exchange). Adam and Andrew are also close friends and their interest in talking about the "Big Questions" and ending human trafficking has afforded them many opportunities to share their conversation with others. We are privileged to have them join us to share their friendship and insights with us on this evening.
