GS4: Echoes and Tracings

Echoes and Tracings gathers vivid and contrasting chamber works for violin, viola, flute, and piano, performed by some of Winnipeg’s finest musicians. Featuring music by composers with Ukrainian roots—including Valentyn Silvestrov, and Anna Pidgorna—as well as a new solo violin work by Michael Matthews, the program moves between stillness and intensity. The composers’ voices reflect a range of personal and cultural influences, woven into music that is deeply individual yet quietly responsive to history. This richly textured evening draws connections through works that speak in distinct, compelling voices.
