Hamilton Winter Solstice Festival
Overview
Celebrate the Winter Solstice– the return of light after the longest night of the year– at Hamilton Winter Solstice Festival on Dec.21st at Corktown Park. There will be performances by dancers and musicians, installations by video artists, and a parade featuring everyone in attendance – including you!
There will be fire!
Light up your clothes, shoes, walking poles, bikes, strollers, mobility devices.
Wear glowing crowns, tiaras, bracelets, necklaces.
Create lanterns, lamps, lances, and any other portable artworks made with lights that you can come up with!
Refreshments will be available, bathrooms will be open.

Hot chocolate: High Society Supper Club
In addition to engaging professional artists and cultural workers, the festival is organized by volunteers.
Performances & interactive activities include:
- Performance by Hamilton Aerial Group
- Interactive dance performance by Sound Effect Crew
- Play Cosmic Basketball, created by Surprise!Hamilton
- Cesar C Cordoba’s AnimalKinetic, intricate kinetic sculpture
- Video installation by Ingrid Mayrhofer
- Pivot Centre for Collective Action and E4CS leading a participatory writing activity
- Light show by Todd Murray and Darryl Gold
- Video installation by Edgardo Moreno
- Hamilton Fire Circle performance by Billy Bones
- Fire finale sculpture created by Melanie Skene
