Née en 1937 à Leipzig de parents juifs, l'ancienne standardiste Anita G. fuit la RDA dans les années 60 pour se réfugier à l'Ouest. Elle trouve un emploi d'infirmière. Après avoir échappé à une peine de prison avec sursis pour vol, Anita déménage dans une autre ville. Représentante d'une maison de disques, elle falsifie des bons de commande, vit au-dessus de ses moyens et devient la maîtresse de son patron. Mais par égard pour sa femme, celui-ci la quitte un jour et la dénonce. Accusée à tort de vol, Anita perd également son emploi suivant de femme de chambre. Elle finit par devenir la maîtresse d'un haut fonctionnaire cultivé. Lorsqu'elle tombe enceinte de lui, il la quitte à son tour. Anita G. finit par se rendre à la police.

La série "Je suis CONTRE! - Indignation, protestation et résistance au cinéma" est présenté par le Goethe-Institut Montréal en collaboration avec les étudiants du Collège Maisonneuve. Les projections de bienfaisance serviront à financer un voyage des étudiant.e.s à Berlin dans le cadre du Festival international du film de Berlin en février 2026.

Anita G. is a young East German woman who comes to West Germany in hopes of a better life. With no real home and no job, she gets into trouble with the law when she steals and is sent to prison. After her sentence, she has difficulty adjusting to life in a new society. Her probation officer tries to help her, but Anita fails in every job, continues to lie and steal, and becomes a wandering gypsy. She then falls in love with a civil servant and feels a sense of security with him, until she is recognized on the street one day by a woman she betrayed. The woman forces Anita to admit her guilt. Eventually her relationship to the civil servant becomes a burden to him. Anita becomes pregnant, but is cast away by her married lover. Although he likes her, he realizes that he cannot really help her. Homeless and unable to deal with it all, she voluntarily goes to prison to find a shelter to have her baby. - www.filmportal.de

The film series "Against it! - Indignation, protest and resistance in film" is presented by the Goethe-Institut Montreal in collaboration with students from Collège Maisonneuve.The donations collected at these screenings will be used to fund a trip for students to Berlin as part of the Berlin International Film Festival in February 2026.
