About this Event
This documentary follows the extraordinary journey of Dr. Shelly Sarwal, a physician from Halifax, Nova Scotia living with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), an incurable condition that affects the body’s involuntary functions, including blood pressure, breathing, bladder function and muscle control. The condition will eventually lead to death.
Dr. Sarwal chose Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) and included her wish to be an organ donor. As the first person in Nova Scotia to experience this medical journey, she dedicated the time she had left on this earth to educate health professionals and the general public about being in control of your death and creating a meaningful legacy through organ donation.
After the screening, stay for an expert panel including Gift of Life and Manitoba’s MAID team members.
