Event Information
About this Event
On Thursday, February 25, at 12:00 PM, the Institute for Science, Society and Policy will host Prof. Stacey Smith?, Faculty Affiliate, ISSP and Full Professor, Department of Mathematics and Faculty of Medicine, to discuss how modelling potential COVID-19 outcomes on campus helped uOttawa.
By early March of 2020, it became apparent that COVID-19 was going to have a significant impact on institutions throughout society, but the extent of what action to take was not then known. On March 12, the University of Ottawa commissioned an informal modelling study to aid in their decision-making process. Here we present the results from that study, showing how real-time modelling was able to quickly assess multiple potential scenarios and play a role in both short- and long-term planning.
