Improving bylaws and policies to advance accessible governance

Overview

Join us to explore barriers and solutions for improving accessibility in your nonprofit governance structure.

A recent study found that only 6% of nonprofits had an individual who identified as having a disability on their board. To better represent the communities nonprofits serve, it is crucial to include people with disabilities in all levels of decisionmaking.

In this session participants will learn good practices to ensure board and members' meetings and business enable the fullest contributions from all individuals. After exploring the applicability of the Ontario Human Rights Code and AODA to governance, we will explore barriers to and solutions for accessibility in onboarding of directors and members, voting processes, and exercising other rights.

There will be an opportunity for sharing practices, Q&A, and more. Please note this session will not be recorded. All registered participants will receive a curated list of resources within one week of the event.

Current ONN members are eligible for a discount on this workshop. There is also a limited number of discounted spots for organizations with annual revenues of less than $300,000 - the spots are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
