Intercultural Wellness Series: Fighting Stigma, Finding Services

Overview

Exploring what a learning disability diagnosis can mean for newcomers to Canada.

Saskatchewan Intercultural Association (SIA) has partnered with the Learning Disability Association of Saskatchewan (LDAS) for this opportunity to learn from about the tools available for newcomers with learning disabilities. This event will discuss the reasons some families may be hesitant to seek diagnosis, the myths and stigma around intellectual disability, and the opportunities for support available in Saskatoon.

Brett Williams, M.Ed., R. Psych is the Director of Program Service Delivery for the Learning Disabilities Association of Saskatchewan (LDAS). He has professional experience providing mental health counselling and consultation across the education, health, community, and private sectors. He is the author of zero books. Brett has personal experience receiving mental health services, and is grateful to have a wonderful wife, a dynamic daughter, and a faithful fish.

Brett will be joined a guest presenter who will be sharing their lived experiences of learning disability as a newcomer.
