Overview

This session will look at systems and structures of governing a non-profit arts organization and tools needed to support good governance.


As part of the Rozsa Foundations' ongoing commitment to supporting Alberta arts leaders, this Intersections session (part of the Rozsa Foundations of Arts Leadership program) is being made available to arts leaders outside of the program.

DESCRIPTION
This session will look at the systems and structures of governing a non-profit arts organization and what tools are needed to support good governance practices. The session will provide participants with the opportunity to explore their own organization and the role of strategy, policies, managing a board, and the art of a good board meeting agenda.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Articulate what is at the foundation of good governance practice
  • Clarify the roles and responsibilities of Board members, and the relationship to Management
  • Recognize different governance models
  • Identify tools to support good governance practice within their organization
  • Determine tactics for managing the Board/Executive relationship

The session is 4.5 hours long, with a 30 minute lunch break. While some snacks will be provided, it is recommended that you bring a lunch as the food vendors in the building are busy at lunchtime.
