Welcome to Introductory Motivational Interviewing for Helping Professionals!

Are you a helping professional looking to enhance your skills in motivational interviewing? Join us for this facilitated online training where you will learn the foundations of motivational interviewing and practical skills to immediately begin to integrate an MI approach into your work with others. Whether you work in healthcare, social services, child development, education, or any other helping profession, this training will offer the HOW to engage and guide change.

During this training, you will have the opportunity to learn with Cristine Urquhart, a leader in communication for engagement and change, and participate in interactive sessions to practice your skills with colleagues. By the end of the training, you will have a solid understanding of motivational interviewing and practical skills to strengthen your communication with those you support.

Each session has a 30 minute independent take-away activity.

Facilitator

Cristine Urquhart, MSW, RSW, co-founder of Change Talk Associates, is an engagement and change communication leader with twenty years of experience training and coaching helping professionals across Canada in evidence-based practices. She is a member of the international Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (Bulgaria, 2007) and a contributor to numerous practice guides and book chapters. Cristine is a collaborator with the Centre of Excellence for Women’s Health on provincial and national education and knowledge translation projects, and was an instructor with UBC Continuing Studies for ten years.
