Pìwànak, meaning “flint” in the Anishinàbe Algonquin language, symbolizes beginnings, transformation, and the spark of learning.
As a polytechnic leader, Algonquin College drives workforce-ready innovation across the National Capital Region and beyond. Pìwànak brings this vision to life with 20,000 square feet of new state-of-the-art labs, integrating Indigenous knowledge with hands-on learning in biosciences, chemistry and applied research - while fostering industry partnerships that prepare students for real-world impact.
