About the Instructor
Danny Cardoso is an emerging printmaking artist based in Toronto who graduated in 2020 from OCAD University with a BFA. Their art practice focuses on constructing large-scale, print-based installations with visual narratives hidden in patterns. The use of patterning stems from a strong connection to Portuguese tile work (“Azulejos”) and the way its history resonates in their life. Through intensive research of historical archives in the Iberian Peninsula, as well as family history, Danny combines the visual patterns of “Azulejos” with contemporary themes of queerness, mental health, and identity, while simultaneously pushing the limits of what contemporary print work can be.
