Join us for an inspiring and thought-provoking event with the esteemed educator and performance poet, Wakefield Brewster. In this captivating session, Wakefield will delve into the transformative power of words and its role in shaping a more inclusive society. Through a dynamic blend of performance and discussion, Wakefield will share a range of his poetic works that will inspire students on the potential of writing and how poetry can be a catalyst for positive change in world.

Recommended for grades 49. Some themes maybe harder to grasp for grades 4 – 5, but we hope the general message and Wakefield’s passion will inspire writers no matter their age.

Wakefield Brewster (He/Him/His) is Calgary’s 6th Poet Laureate. In January 1999, Wakefield stepped onto his first stage as a Poet and Spoken Word Artist. Today, he is known as one of Canada’s most powerful Professional Performance Poets. Wakefield is a community builder through engaging in volunteering, leadership, and mentorship for youth and through the arts.
