About this event

Toronto Film School will host a private screening and panel discussion of Tim Myles’ award-winning, short film Little Bird to mark National Day of Truth and Reconciliation on Sept. 30.

Yorkville University and Toronto Film School students, staff and faculty can take part in this meaningful and extraordinary event and watch Myles’ semi-autobiographical story of a young, Indigenous man who finds strength in family while processing the death of his mother.

Little Bird recently enjoyed its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and was awarded the 2020 imagineNATIVE + LIFT Mentorship Grant in partnership with NETFLIX to develop the film into a full-length feature.

Myles will join cast members Cheri Moracle and Lisa Nasson for a 45 minute discussion following the screening.

Myles is a Mi'kmaw actor and filmmaker originally from Newfoundland with roots in the Miawpukek First Nations. Upon moving to Toronto in 2014 and graduating from Toronto Film School with honours, Myles directed multiple music videos for artists such as Indigenous rock group Crownlands, Banners, Tilsen, and Métis pop artist Indigo.

He has worked with Universal Music and Island Records, and his most recent project for Crowndlands, titled End of the Road, was a tribute to the missing and murdered Indigenous women on the Highway of Tears.

He appeared on the docu-series Going Native about being a young, Two-Spirit filmmaker, which will appear on Aboriginal Peoples Television Network in fall 2021.
