Description

In-door light-based works celebrate the spring equinox create optical illusions, showcasing the evolution of experiential art…

Mind bending optical illusions are just part of the story, the professional jam of the artists exhibiting is another. Visitors to the Deer Lake Gallery in Burnaby will once again be dazzled by an exhibition noted for being one of the hottest shows on the Lower Mainland last year. Join us for the Luminescence IV Closing Event on Saturday, April 6th @ 7 pm!

The evening event features one last chance to see the fire-breathing dragon by local icon Ron Simmer and live music from two amazing musicians: Eddie Lam & Leonard Pallerstein! The Berzerkatroid Dragon will be breathing fire on-site on during the Luminescence IV closing event from 7pm - 9pm.

Eddie is a Vancouver-born music scene veteran with one of the most diverse musical portfolios in town. A two-time Whammy Award winner for the best piano player (and the first Chinese Canadian to ever win a Whammy Award), he is most known for being the front man for local all-Asian rock band ‘Cry of silence’ and one of the instrumentalists in Vancouver-based cover band ‘the Naturals’ and coordinating live band karaoke experience called ‘Rockaoke Live’.

Leonard is a young versatile guitarist from Vancouver, Canada. He specializes in finger-style acoustic guitar, a form a instrumental music which combines the virtuosic left hand finger work of the classical guitar combined with rhythmic and percussive elements borrowed from pop music. He has a vast repertoire of jazz, pop, rock, funk, and blues. While his primary style is solo acoustic guitar he continues to play in numerous bands such as the 'Sway' show of Mooncoin Productions, Record high, and other high energy funk & blues bands. He is an avid busker and also a guitar instructor at the Bergthorson Academy.

The Berzerkatroid Dragon created by Ron Simmer will blow your mind! The dragon is approximately 16 feet long, 9 feet high and about 7 feet wide and weighs approximately 450 lb. The propane fire effect was fabricated by Daniel Stratten of Think Industrial, who has made many such devices in accordance with NFPA standard 160 Standard for the Use of Flame Effects Before an Audience. The flame effect is modest, the average propane flame burst from the mouth of the dragon being about three feet. For video see www.xarax.ca.
