Lunch Poems at SFU is a unique opportunity to celebrate poetry and is held the third Wednesday of every month, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

December’s Lunch Poems reading at SFU Harbour Centre’s Teck Gallery features poets Amber Dawn and jaye simpson.

Amber Dawn is a writer and creative facilitator living on unceded Coast Salish Territories (Vancouver). She is the author of six books: two novels, three poetry collections and a memoir. Her newest collection, Buzzkill Clamshell, explores themes of sick and disabled queerness through bent mythmaking.

jaye simpson (she/they) is an Oji-Cree Saulteaux Indigiqueer from the Sapotaweyak Cree Nation. Their first poetry collection, it was never going to be okay (Nightwood Editions, 2021) was shortlisted for the 2021 ReLit Award and the Writers' Trust of Canada Dayne Ogilvie Prize and won the 2021 Indigenous Voices Award for Published Poetry in English.
