About this event

Created by Vancouver artist Doug R. Taylor, the sculpture’s Wind Wheel Mobile design is a powerful metaphor for the asbestos tragedy. It is complemented by interpretive signage and poetry by John MacLachlan Gray. The installation site is a high-profile location overlooking the Burrard Inlet, where asbestos was loaded into ships for export over the decades.

We acknowledge the financial support of the Province of British Columbia, WorkSafe BC, the substantial contribution of the BC Pavilion Corporation (PavCo) and the Vancouver Convention Centre, several unions and many other donors.

Note that this is an outdoor event in an area exposed to wind and rain, depending on the weather. Seating will be available. The site is about two blocks from the Waterfront SkyTrain station. Pay parking is also available at the Convention Centre.
