MANAGING CHALLENGING BEHAVIOURS IN YOUNG CHILDREN
Overview
MANAGING CHALLENGING BEHAVIOURS IN YOUNG CHILDREN
Date & Time: February 18, 2026, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM
Location: Virtual
Most parents, no matter how experienced they may be or how many children they may have, encounter challenging and difficult behaviours in at least one of their children. These include such issues as temper tantrums, bedtime issues, eating problems, aggression, sibling rivalry and defiance, all of which can disrupt the whole family, not simply the child.
This workshop is designed to help parents:
- Understand the context in which today’s children are growing up, and what influences our expectations and our child-rearing philosophies
- Recognize how the developmental stages in the lives of young children influence their behaviour
- Acquire some tools that can be effective in teaching young children appropriate social behaviours to enable them to function in today’s world.
Dr. Maggie Mamen is a psychologist in private practice in Ottawa, focusing on parent consultation and is a member of the Board of the Parent Resource Centre. She has written several books about parenting, including The Pampered Child Syndrome, and is the parent of three adult children and Nana of four.
