Meditation Toolkit & Instructions
Overview
In the Kadampa tradition, January is retreat month. In this short series, we will have the opportunity to engage in meditations that are longer than our usual class meditations, and will be given tools that help improve our meditation.
In order to improve the power of our meditations, we need to assemble a toolkit of specific mental skills. We will look at how to prepare properly for meditation, how to engage in analytical meditation to find our object of meditation, how to use mindfulness and alertness to keep our mind focused on the object and how to prevent distractions and dullness from destroying the strength of our meditation. We will also look at simple, yet profound meditations which will help us develop and maintain a peaceful mind.
This series is ideal for those who wish to start applying, or perfecting, the meditation techniques learned, and to gain a deeper, transformative meditation experience we can gain through Lamrim meditations.
