One in four households has someone impacted by migraine in Canada. Far from being “just a headache,” migraine is a chronic neurological disorder and one of the most common diseases worldwide.

  • Introduction to Migraine: Learn why migraine is classified as a neurological condition, how it is diagnosed, and the overall burden it places on individuals.
  • Lifestyle Factors & Symptom Management: Explore how everyday lifestyle factors can worsen or improve migraine symptoms and discover simple, evidence-based strategies to help manage the migraine.
  • New Available Treatments: Gain an overview of preventative therapies including new medications and medical devices and learn how to discuss these options with your healthcare provider.


Dr. Christine Lay is the founding director of the Headache Program at Women’s College Hospital. She is also a professor of Neurology at the University of Toronto and serves as the chair of the American Migraine Foundation. Dr. Ioana Medrea is a headache neurologist at Women’s College Hospital and a clinician investigator at the Women’s College Hospital Research and Innovation Institute. She is also an assistant professor of Neurology at the University of Toronto.
