Mino’Ayaawag Ikwewag Indigenous Parenting Gathering: March 25 & 26, 2026

By Mino'Ayaawag Ikwewag

Overview

Join us to celebrate & showcase traditional & innovative Indigenous parenting knowledge for community & service providers.

Mino'Ayaawag Ikwewag presents:

Strong Spirits, Strong Families: An Indigenous Parenting Gathering

Join us for a powerful and uplifting two-day gathering celebrating the heart of our Nations: our families, our children and the teachings that guide us.

This gathering will bring together Elders, Knowledge Keepers, parents, grandparents, educators, midwives, researchers, service providers and policymakers to learn, share and celebrate the brilliance of Indigenous parenting — both traditional and contemporary.

Parenting in Indigenous Nations is grounded in kinship, respect, love, collective responsibility and deep cultural memory. These strengths have always been with us, even when overshadowed by colonial narratives and harmful stereotypes.

This gathering is a space to honour, uplift and reclaim what has always made our families strong.

Together, we will create opportunities for healing, empowerment and connection building on the beauty, innovation and resilience of Indigenous parenting practices across generations.

Join us in person as we:

🌱 Celebrate traditional and contemporary parenting teachings that strengthen identity, confidence, and wellness.
🌱 Lift up Indigenous knowledge systems and approaches to raising children.
🌱 Engage community leaders, educators, service providers, and government in recognizing the power of Indigenous parenting.
🌱 Create space for families to connect, learn, laugh, share, and support each other.
🌱 Exchange knowledge between families, organizations, and professionals in a spirit of respect and reciprocity.
🌱 Strengthen relationships that contribute to healing, community wellness, and reconciliation in Manitoba.

By centering our strengths, we inspire action, spark healing, and contribute to strong families and thriving communities.
