Event description

Description

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to Montréal-Area Phase Separation (MAPS) group first annual congress on May 22nd at McGill University!

Liquid phase separation is an emerging concept that appears to be at the basis of many biophysical processes underlying key cellular functions. As many laboratories in the Montreal Area are working directly on this process or are working on cellular mechanisms involving phase separation, we thought it was important to reunite these great minds in order to share ideas, thoughts and maybe create collaborations.

This conference intends to bring together scientists from diverse fields; from physicists working on better understanding the biophysical processes leading to phase separation to molecular biologists studying the dynamics of the droplets formed in the cells.

Graduate students and post-doctorates fellows are invited to present their work with oral presentations, posters presentations or by intervening during the day with great questions and comments. You can already submit your abstracts. The abstract submission deadline is May 1rst and you can register until May 15th.

Please note: due to limited available spots, we may not be able to accept all abstracts.

The presentations are meant to increase the awareness on the importance of phase separation and also to explore the large repertoire of new data and tools generated in Montreal. This transdisciplinary event is an incredible opportunity to present recent discoveries and provide a forum to address key questions in the field of phase separation.

For our first event, we will have the great pleasure to have for keynote Eric Shoubridge, PhD who is going to enlighten us on mitochondrial RNA granules.

Keep the date!
