Event description

Description

The Nicola Basin Collaborative will be hosting the first annual Nicola Symposium, "Collaboration in a Sensitive Watershed" on February 1st and 2nd at the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology (lecture theatre). The Nicola watershed has an arid climate that is drought prone, has sensitive fisheries, declining fish populations, and the watershed also faces effects due to climate change. The purpose of the symposium is to showcase the work that is being done in the Nicola watershed, build awareness regarding the issues that affect the Nicola, and to excite academic energy to help address them.

Nicola Collaborative Mission – To develop and apply a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to watershed management, a working model that can be applied to other watersheds.

Lunch will be provided at the workshop.

Accommodations: Rooms are reserved at the Comfort Inn & Suites (3713 DeWolf Way, Merritt). Please call 250-315-0237 for bookings. Special rates for Nicola Symposium participants are available for January 31, February 1 and February 2 at $85.00 for one bed or $95.00 for two beds. Breakfast is included in your hotel stay.
